About the Author
Mike DuBose, MSW, founder and president of Research Associates, has developed 130 large grants and more than 500 small grants totaling over $200 million with an overall success rate of 90 percent. Mike has also served as a grants administrator for more than 100 grant programs. Having trained more than 20,000 individuals in both graduate courses and grantwriting seminars, Mike is consistently rated as outstanding by participants in his various grants development workshops. Mike serves as a field instructor for the University of South Carolina, College of Social Work, and his employment history includes positions with seven state agencies in South Carolina, grants administrator for two South Carolina governors, and executive director of the private nonprofit South Carolina Home Health Association.
Martha Davis, senior vice president of Research Associates, leads the Grants Development and Evaluation Services Divisions and is charged with expanding the company's base of operations throughout the nation. Currently responsible for the oversight of 18 regional offices strategically matched to federal grant regions, Martha supports new business development and facilitates the company's grant development projects. Under her leadership, Research Associates has secured more than $68 million in federal and state grants for the company's customers, with an overall success rate of 90 percent. Martha is an integral part of the company's post-grant consultation and technical assistance and also directs legislative affairs on behalf of the company's grant clients. As a former executive director of a South Carolina nonprofit education fund, Martha brings unique experience as both a grant maker and grantwriter.
Anne Black, MS, is director of special projects at Research Associates, serving as instructor for grant seminars and onsite workshops while providing oversight for all certified course curricula. As a senior grantwriter, she develops grant proposals, coordinates grants team efforts, and develops program models. Anne has coauthored numerous publications with Mike DuBose. Anne's professional positions include a faculty appointment at the Medical University of South Carolina, director for research and evaluation at a large federally funded neighborhood healthcare center, and administrator for an inner-city Episcopal mission center providing adult daycare and Head Start programs. She has served on the board of a multicounty nonprofit providing addictions prevention, intervention, and treatment services.
